Lorde-performing-David-Bowie-tribute-brits-2016-3-billboard-650

At the 2016 Brit Awards, Lorde sung a cover of David Bowie's "Life on Mars" as a tribute.

Background

At the 2016 Brit Awards, Lorde sung a cover of "Life on Mars", as a tribute to the dead singer, David Bowie. Unbeknownst to the audience, Lorde was actually very nervous to cover the song.[1] On her Twitter she revealed QUOTE "I was so nervous in the wings. Then I whispered to myself ‘just sing it to David,’ and nothing else mattered."[2] It is worth mentioning that while he was alive, Bowie praised Lorde's music, so Lorde had a real life connection to pull from. [1] Later, Bowie's son praised Lorde's cover.
